According to eye-witnesses, two men riding on a motorcycle dropped a black polythene bag in the market area and left. The bag exploded within minutes, killing one person on the spot. Eghteen injured victims were taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Safdarjung Hospital.
President Pratibha Patil on Saturday spoke to veteran actor Dilip Kumar and wished him a speedy recovery. The 86-year-old thespian was admitted to the Indraprasth Apollo Hospital late on Thursday night."His wife Saira Bano was with the actor when President Patil called him up and made inquiries about his health. She sent flowers to the ailing actor. She also wished him a speedy recovery so that he is able to celebrate Id at his residence," a senior official said.

BCCI's senior vice president Rajiv Shukla has ruled out cancellation of Australia's cricket tour to India following the serial blasts in New Delhi on Saturday. Speaking to rediff.com, Shulka said, "There is no question of the tour being cancelled."
Peter Young, spokesman for the Australian Cricket Board, said the safety of players comes first and all the standard procedures laid down before undertaking a foreign tour would be applied in this case as well. Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil warned of "stringent punishment" to those behind the serial blasts in New Delhi and appealed to people to be united to thwart their nefarious designs. Patil, who reviewed the situation soon after the blasts, which claimed several lives, said the need of the hour was to ensure that their aims did not succeed and the situation was not allowed to deteriorate.
Anuj Chauhan, one of the two persons injured in Thursday's BMW hit-and-run case in New Delhi, succumbed to his injuries at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences on Saturday. Chauhan and his friend Mrigank Srivastav, who were riding a motorcycle, were hit by a BMW in the wee hours of Friday, when they tried to overtake it at the Moolchand Hospital flyover.The BMW was being driven by Utsav Bhasin, the son of an influential businessman, who was reportedly inebriated.
